Les trois mousquetaires
Having watched Anime Sanjuushi as a young boy, I've always been fascinated by musketeers and similar stuff. Being French and loving to read, I have read the original novels. Yes: Alexandre Dumas wrote more than one book about D'Artagnan. In order they are:
- Les trois mousquetaires
- Vingt ans après
- Le vicomte de Bragelonne
Actually, I just finished going through them all for the second time... And that's a lot: some 4200 pages in total.
@_@
Now this topic is just your general impressions on the novels or, if you haven't read them, questions you may have. I think I'll go open another topic just on the character/plot differences...
I basically have one thing to say about Dumas' novels on D'Artagnan: they're genius.
His way or writing and describing is just beautiful. Every page is a pleasure to read, filled with drama or humour.
The story in itself is great, too. It made me fall in love with historical novels, i.e. stories built around historical facts.

Re: Les trois mousquetaires
Yes Dumas was a genie... too bad on his days people took advantage on him... he like to help people and sometimes that turn against him... but his mind was full of imagination!
